Whole Blood
Vitalant offers whole blood products for trauma patients, typically when the patient has had significant blood loss. More commonly it can be separated into four components: red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma and platelets.
Plasma
Because plasma is a critical part of treatment for many significant health problems, Vitalant offers a variety of clinical apheresis procedures to provide hospital partners with much needed plasma products to treat patients.
Platelets
Platelets can be used to treat many different medical conditions, including cancer patients receiving treatment, low blood platelet counts (thrombocytopenia) or platelet dysfunction, active platelet-related bleeding, or to prevent serious risk of bleeding. Vitalant provides platelets with the longest potential shelf life available to hospitals without secondary testing.
Cryoprecipitate
Vitalant offers hospital partners various Cryoprecipitated Antihemophilic Factor (cryo) products, including pooled cryoprecipitate manufacture from plasma frozen within 24 hours.
